Privacy Policy for Daysmark
Effective Date: October 7, 2026
Introduction
Daysmark (日子 on the Chinese App Store; "we," "our," or "us") keeps track of countdowns, birthdays and anniversaries. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Daysmark app for iPhone and iPad (the "App") handles, where it is kept, and how you can delete it.
In short: your dates stay on your device and, with iCloud, in your own iCloud. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking. We never receive your events.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Your events: we never receive event titles, dates, times, categories, repeat rules or reminders
- Accounts: there is no sign-up and no account with us
- Usage and tracking: no analytics, no advertising, no advertising identifier, no tracking across apps or websites
- Location: the App does not use your location
Where Your Data Is Kept
On your device
Your events, categories, reminders and settings are stored on your device, in a container shared with the App's widgets and Siri shortcuts. To decide when to show Apple's rating prompt, the App also keeps a launch count and the dates it last asked, on your device only.
In your own iCloud
When you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is turned on for the App in iOS Settings, your events and categories are also stored in the private iCloud database of your own Apple Account, so they appear on your other devices. This storage is provided by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. Only devices signed in to your Apple Account can read it; we have no access to it.
Permissions
The App asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can withdraw any permission at any time in iOS Settings; events you already imported stay in the App.
- Contacts: when you import birthdays, the App reads names and birthdays on your device to show you the list. Only the contacts you choose are saved, as a one-time copy of the name and birthday; later changes in Contacts are not synced. To recognise contacts you already imported, the App keeps a reference to each imported contact on this device only; it is not synced to iCloud.
- Calendars: when you import from your calendars, the App reads events on your device to show you the list. Only the events you choose are saved, as a one-time copy of the title, date and time. A reference to each imported calendar event is kept on this device only.
- Notifications: to deliver the reminders you set. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
- Siri and Shortcuts: you can add and look up events with Siri. Siri requests are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; we do not receive them.
Widgets, Lock Screen and Spotlight
Widgets (including Lock Screen widgets), notifications, Live Activities and Spotlight search show event titles. Whether notification previews appear on the Lock Screen follows your iOS notification settings. You can hide a single event from Spotlight in the App's event editor. Spotlight indexing happens on your device.
Sharing
When you share an event, the image or text is created on your device and goes only where you choose in the share sheet. Nothing is sent to us.
Crash Reports
If you agree in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash and performance reports that do not identify you.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell or share any data. The App uses Apple's system frameworks and services (such as CloudKit for iCloud); it contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code.
Data Retention and Deletion
- In the App: edit or delete events at any time. Deleted events stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days so you can restore them, and are then removed permanently. You can also delete them permanently right away from Recently Deleted.
- iCloud: turn off iCloud for the App in iOS Settings to stop syncing. To delete the copy in your iCloud, open the Settings app → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
- On your device: deleting the App removes all data it stored on the device.
- Emails: if you email us, we receive your message and email address. We keep it only as long as we need it to reply. Ask us and we will delete it.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
International Data Transfers
Data in your iCloud is stored by Apple, which may process it in countries other than your own, as described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and describe significant changes in the App's release notes.
