Privacy Policy for Starfold

Introduction

Starfold ("Starfold: Remote Play", "we," "our," or "us") is a streaming client for Mac and Apple Vision Pro that lets you remote play your own Xbox console and play Xbox Cloud Gaming. This Privacy Policy explains how Starfold handles your information. In short: we, the developer, collect no data at all. Starfold talks only to Microsoft / Xbox services and to your own console.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• No Personal Information: We do not collect your name, email, gamertag, or any identifying information.
• No Accounts With Us: There is no Starfold account. You sign in with your own Microsoft account.
• No Analytics, Ads or Tracking: Starfold contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites.
• No Developer Servers: We operate no servers. Nothing from the app is ever sent to us.

Signing In With Microsoft

• Starfold uses Microsoft's device-code sign-in: you enter a short code on Microsoft's own sign-in page in your browser. Starfold never sees your password.
• The Microsoft and Xbox access tokens that Microsoft issues are stored only in your device's Keychain and are used only to talk to Microsoft / Xbox services on your behalf.
• Signing out deletes these tokens from the Keychain.

Where the App Connects

Starfold connects directly, and only, to:

• Microsoft and Xbox services, such as login.live.com, *.xboxlive.com, xbox.com, catalog.gamepass.com, and Microsoft's store image servers, to sign you in, list your consoles and cloud games, show game artwork, and start streaming sessions.
• Your own Xbox console, on your local network or over the internet, for remote play.

During a stream, video, audio and your controller, keyboard and mouse input travel between your device and your console or Microsoft's cloud gaming servers. Data that Microsoft processes is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Permissions

• Local Network: used only to find and connect to your Xbox on your local network.
• Microphone: used only if you turn on voice chat while streaming a game. Your voice goes only to the game session, never to us.

You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.

Data Stored on Your Device

• Sign-in tokens in the Keychain, and your preferences (such as theme and streaming settings) in the app's local storage.
• Nothing is synced to or backed up on any server of ours. Deleting the app removes all of its local data.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We have no data to share because we collect none. The only third party the app communicates with is Microsoft, as described above, in order to provide the features you use.

Children's Privacy

Starfold is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Microsoft account and Xbox family settings continue to apply.

Starfold is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation. Xbox, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming and related marks are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation, used for identification only.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date above and, for significant changes, mention them in app updates.
